Greater Pittsburgh Area
In early April 2008, the Greater
Pittsburgh Area FruitFlowers store saluted Surgicorps
International, a Pittsburgh-based
volunteer organization dedicated to providing reconstructive
surgery to children in less developed countries. FruitFlowers
made a contribution to the group at its 4th annual fundraiser
event. Proceeds from the event are used to provide operating
room tables, sutures, dressings and antibiotics to treat
children.
In March 2008, the Greater Pittsburgh Area FruitFlowers
store saluted Team Hope, for their initiative in raising money
for the American Cancer Society. Team Hope was created by students
from Pittsburgh-based Duquesne University to raise money for
the Society and run the first Relay for Life event. FruitFlowers
made a contribution to the Team as part of its fundraiser.
In early 2008, the Greater Pittsburgh Area FruitFlowers
store saluted the local Komen Foundation for providing a
local support group and raising awareness and contributions
to find
a cure for breast cancer. FruitFlowers provided a banquet-sized
floral fruit creation to the 250 guests in attendance at
a local “Taste for the Cure” wine-tasting and fundraiser
event.
